National Christian Housing Conference held in Houston area in October
 
Steve and I had the privilege to attend the National Christian Housing Conference, held in Lake Jackson, TX in late October.  It was our first time connecting with so many other house parents , so it was really great swapping ideas and sharing funny stories! 
Maternity homes are indeed alive and well around the nation, and we were impressed by the representatives that we had the chance to meet. It is such a blessing to have others to connect with in the future.  We were refreshed by times of worship, fellowship, and learning.
 
A highlight for us, were the workshops that we attended, specifically those directed for House Parents. We attended a workshop that focused on the importance of devotions, and we learned some new, creative ways to present devotion time to our girls....exciting!!  Another workshop, led by a LPC, focused on more serious emotional disorders that we may see in some of the young women.  We brought some valuable information and strategies to share with the rest of team back at LifeHouse. 
  
 
We thoroughly enjoyed the conference, and are looking forward to going again, and seeing familiar faces next year!
