What is LifeHouse?
We are a Christian residential care facility for pregnant teens and young women. We have a home for pregnant women between the ages of 12-24. We also have a post-partum home for qualifying residents to stay for up to 90 days.
How much does it cost to stay at LifeHouse?
There are no financial costs to our residents.
While at LifeHouse will I be able to continue my education?
Yes, most definitely! If you are still in school, you will have the opportunity to attend classes not far from our homes.
Can I have a job if I want?
Yes. If you have completed high school (or have a GED), you will have outside employment or a regular volunteer opportunity. We will assist you in job placement if you desire.
How old are the residents who stay at LifeHouse?
We serve individuals up to the age of 24. The average age is 17 years old.
How far along in my pregnancy do I need to be before I can come?
You can come during ANY month of pregnancy.
Can I be forced to come to LifeHouse?
No. You must make your own decision to come into our home.
How long can I stay at LifeHouse?
You can stay until the delivery of your baby. If you chose to place for adoption you can stay after delivery for up to a year. If you chose to parent, you may qualify to stay in our post partum home for up 90 days.
Do you provide a place for my baby and me to live after my baby is born?
We will assist you in making plans and exploring housing options after completion of the program.
Can my family and friends visit me?
Visits occur weekly but are different lengths depending on how long you have been in the program.
If I come to LifeHouse, do I have to place my baby for adoption?
No. Parenting or placing for adoption is your decision.
How many residents can stay at the home?
We can house up to six residents in each home at a time.
I already have a child. Can I bring him/her with me?
We are not able to care for children.
Where will I deliver? Can my family be with me?
Your delivery will be at Memorial Herman Southeast, which provides the best in care for you. Your family can come to the hospital and visit with you and the baby if you would like.
How do I apply?
- Complete the information form.
- A LifeHouse staff member will contact a prospective resident via telephone to set up an interview.
- An interview will occur at one of the LifeHouse homes.
- The prospective resident can contact a LifeHouse staff member to learn of acceptance and to arrange an intake date.
